Seismic vulnerability and resilience of steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) composite column buildings with non-seismic details

Prior to the enforcement of seismic details, older-type fully encased steel-reinforced concrete composite (SCR) columns were utilized in many buildings and bridges constructed active regions worldwide. However, there is serious lack knowledge literature about behavior older buildings’ SRC with non-seismic details. Shear strength expressions, stiffness, backbone curves, nonlinear modeling parameters, acceptance criteria for these are not available. A recent testing campaign (led by first author) provided more test data characterize cyclic performance The current study has three primary objectives (1) suggesting some test-based parameters columns; (2) developing fragility, vulnerability resilience functions an building details (3) assessing ASCE 41-17 column recommendations comparing prototype performance, obtained using curves proposed those criteria. methodology used establish economic accounts uncertainties ground motion, structural response, damages losses means Monte Carlo simulation techniques. structural, non-structural content components established. results this demonstrate that significantly underestimates capacity overestimates fragility system; however, may be surprising considering implicit conservatism included engineering standards. shows collapse probability 30–50% moderate shaking 5–15% intense shaking.
